An educational road safety DVD highlighting the risks to pedestrians and other road users from Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs).

As part of the DVD an HGV driver speaks about the challenges they face with regards to the width and length of the vehicle, side winds, stopping distances, weather conditions, reversing sounds, manoeuvres, ‘blind spots’ and tail lifts.

It gives a ‘drivers eye view’ of life behind the wheel of an HGV, giving a sense of the visibility problems the driver can encounter due to the design of the vehicles.

The DVD delivers key road safety messages. By enhancing the behaviour of road users the council aims to increase road safety awareness and reduce casualties for all road users.

The DVD is a collaborative effort from South Lanarkshire Council’s road safety section, Strathclyde Police, Norbert Dentressangle and Argos.
