Wrexham County Borough Council

The Road Safety Section is located in the Transportation & Asset Management Department of Wrexham County Borough Council. Its aim is to secure the safety of all road users, through targeted road safety education, training and publicity programmes across the County Borough.

Campaigns and initiatives are delivered at a local level and support is also given to national and regional campaigns. Much is achieved in partnership with Road Safety Officers from other local authorities, as well as with the three emergency services – Fire, Police and Ambulance. Partnership working can support the development and enhance the success of Road Safety initiatives, allowing key road safety messages to be delivered through a variety of means. This allows a wide age range and variety of audiences to be reached.

The service caters for all age groups, from birth through to senior citizenship through innovative and traditional means, in order to promote and encourage the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors to the area. Schools, organisations, companies and community groups are all encouraged to play their part and are assisted, both directly and indirectly, in achieving this, by members of the Road Safety team.

These efforts complement the work of the Traffic and Transportation Section, whose engineering measures contribute to the shared goal of casualty reduction. Parking enforcement by the County Borough Council’s Civil Enforcement Officers, coupled with enforcement of road traffic laws by the Police also encourages correct driver behaviour.
