This new website has been launched to provide fleet operators and drivers in Scotland with a reliable source of information to help keep them safe on the roads.

The website has been created by Police Scotland, Glasgow City Council, NHS Health Scotland and RoSPA, and aims to highlight how health can impact the ability to drive, and what can be done to address this.

It has been created to help both employers and employees understand their responsibilities and suggests reasonable courses of action to address short and long term health conditions.

The issues covered on the website include the impact of alcohol and drugs, tiredness and stress – as well as health conditions such as arthritis, migraines and diabetes.

The website also contains a suite of resources including checklists, videos, Powerpoint presentations, posters and links to other useful sources of information.

DfT figures show in 2018, there were 5,506 serious and fatal crashes in Britain involving an at-work driver – compared to 5,442 in 2009.
