Safer Transport (campaign)

Organisation: Department for Transport
Date uploaded: 2nd June 2020
Date published/launched: May 2020

The first stage of the Government’s Safer Transport campaign focuses on communicating the Government’s travel guidance and what people should do if they need to travel during the Covid-19 pandemic. The guidance sets out that if people have to travel for work, they should first consider cycling, walking or driving to help ensure there is enough capacity for those who need to travel on public transport to do so safely.

For those who have no alternative to public transport, the guidance explains the steps they can take to maintain their own safety and that of others and help reduce demand on the transport networks.

The campaign includes a suite of assets for local authorities and others to share on digital channels, using the hashtags #TravelSafely and #StayAlert.

The campaign toolkit, which will continue to be developed as the situation evolves, can be accessed via the Government website.

A second toolkit, which will allow partners to adapt the campaign to include their own messages, will be available shortly.
