Hi All. Is it a requirement of law for a HGV delivery note to include weights so the driver can adhere to weight limits and axle weights please?

    Hi Nick,
Short answer is no, it’s not a legal requirement.
Longer answer, managing and being compliant to weight and veh safety are part of an operator’s undertakings, assuming we’re talking about vehicles under an Operator Licence.
Typically, the operator will or should know the weights, especially as the combined weights increase- not too important if it’s a single pallet into a 44t artic, but definitely if it’s a pallet onto a Luton with a tail lift!
It can also depend on what the load is- are we thinking of something more specific. This is well within my fleet risk role – DM if it helps
