I’m a Parish Councillor in rural Herefordshire, and was recently involved in an accident on a rural road. I’m looking to find more information about road safety on rural roads – any help much appreciated.

Hello Jane, Perhaps you can be more specific in your question?

Just to say Rural Roads have a relatively poor record in regards to fatal/serious crashes (high speed and potentially dangerous) when compared to:
Motorways (which are the safest by far)
Dual Carriageways (high speed but not many crashes)
Town roads (lots of crashes but mostly low speed).

Tell us more about your concern/query.
